On Social Change

People of the wind
blow and howl
shape and curve
and lodge dust in wide eyes
They swell and raze
bluster
vary their force
steadily bending the landscape
to their longing

The water people
have no size
and settle in places
where nothing else will
In time, they contract
expand
slowly dispersing
through the troposphere
Shifting clouds
then rain

On occasion
when conditions are so
webs run wild  and
verdant blazes glow

Such cycles circle endlessly
yet no one takes notice

In precisely this way
mountains
are brought to their knees
